1. Introduction
Welcome to the Blouberg Awards. These Terms and Conditions govern the nomination, voting, participation, and overall administration of the Blouberg Awards.
By participating in the Blouberg Awards, whether as a nominee, voter, sponsor, partner, guest, or attendee, you agree to comply with these Terms and Conditions.
2. Purpose of the Blouberg Awards
The Blouberg Awards were established to recognize, celebrate, and uplift individuals, businesses, organizations, creatives, professionals, community builders, and leaders who positively contribute to the development and growth of the Blouberg community.
The awards primarily recognize:
- Individuals and businesses operating within the Blouberg Local Municipality area.
- Individuals originating from Molemole Local Municipality who operate businesses or provide services within Senwabarwana and the broader Blouberg community.
This inclusion exists because many members of the public associate such individuals and businesses with the Blouberg community due to their visibility, operations, and impact within the municipality.
3. Annual Awards Timeline
The Blouberg Awards operate annually according to the following structure:
3.1 Announcement of Categories and Opening of Nominations
- Around the 15th of January each year, or during mid-January, the organizing committee officially announces the award categories.
- The awards currently consist of twenty-seven (27) categories.
- Public nominations officially open upon announcement on our Facebook page.
3.2 Public Nominations Phase
- Members of the public may nominate their preferred nominees under the respective categories.
- Individuals are also permitted to nominate themselves.
- Public nominations remain open for approximately thirty (30) days.
3.3 Closing of Nominations
- Around the 15th of February each year, nominations officially close.
- The organizing committee then reviews, counts, verifies, and allocates nominees to their respective categories.
3.4 Phase 1 Voting (Public Voting)
- From March until July, public voting takes place.
- Members of the public vote for nominees within their respective categories.
- This stage constitutes Phase 1 of the awards process.
3.5 Phase 2 Voting (Top 3 Finalists)
- From August until October, the competition enters Phase 2.
- The top three (3) nominees in each category proceed to the final round.
- Public voting or judging mechanisms applicable to the final phase will determine the category winners.
3.6 Closing and Ceremony Preparation
- Voting officially closes in late October.
- Final auditing, preparations, and ceremony arrangements take place thereafter.
- Invitations are sent to the Top 3 finalists from each category to attend the awards ceremony.
4. Categories
4.1 Publicly Nominated Categories
Most categories are determined through public nominations and public participation.
4.2 Committee Discretion Categories
The following awards are solely determined by the Blouberg Awards Committee:
- Humanitarian Award
- Lifetime Achievement Award
These categories are not open for public nominations or voting, and final decisions remain at the sole discretion of the committee.
5. Eligibility
To qualify for nomination:
- A nominee must have a visible impact, presence, or operations within the Blouberg community.
- Businesses, organizations, professionals, creatives, and individuals serving the Blouberg area may qualify.
- Nominees from Molemole Municipality may qualify if they actively operate within Senwabarwana or the broader Blouberg Municipality area.
The organizing committee reserves the right to:
- Verify nominee information;
- Reject nominations that are false, misleading, abusive, duplicate, or inconsistent with the spirit of the awards.
6. Voting Rules
- Voting methods, voting fees, voting platforms, and voting limits will be communicated officially by the organizers.
- Any fraudulent voting activity, manipulation, automated voting systems, or abuse of the voting process may lead to disqualification.
- The organizing committee reserves the right to audit and verify votes at any stage.
7. Final Decisions
All decisions made by the Blouberg Awards organizing committee regarding:
- nominations,
- category placements,
- eligibility,
- voting audits,
- Voted finalists,
- winners,
- and disqualifications, shall be final.
8. Use of Names, Images, and Promotional Material
By participating in the Blouberg Awards, nominees, finalists, winners, guests, and attendees grant permission to the organizers to use:
- names,
- photographs,
- videos,
- interviews,
- promotional content,
- and event footage
for marketing, promotional, media, social media, website, advertising, and future awards-related purposes without additional compensation.
9. Ceremony Attendance
- Invitations to the awards ceremony are subject to availability and event arrangements.
- And Public tickets may be available subject to the venue capacity
- The Top 3 finalists in each category will receive official invitations.
- Attendance does not guarantee winning an award.
10. Amendments
The Blouberg Awards organizing committee reserves the right to:
- amend these Terms and Conditions,
- adjust timelines,
- modify categories,
- change voting procedures,
- or introduce additional rules where necessary.
Any updates will be communicated through official platforms.
11. Limitation of Liability
The Blouberg Awards and its organizing committee shall not be held liable for:
- technical interruptions,
- voting platform failures,
- delayed submissions,
- incorrect nominee information submitted by the public,
- or circumstances beyond reasonable control.
